Food & Wine's Editorial Guidelines Updated on May 20, 2024 This new Oreo collab is truly out of this world. For the first time ever, the iconic chocolate sandwich cookies are representing a galaxy far, far away, with a branded Star Wars partnership, in collaboration with Lucasfilm. Lucasfilm Ltd. / Mondelez International, Inc. Special Edition Star Wars Oreo Cookies will be available in two symbolic iterations, though both cookies will have the same Star Wars packaging. Cookie lovers won’t know which side of the Force they’re on until they open their packs of Oreos and see if the creme inside represents the dark side or the light side. Oreo Just Dropped a New Flavor That Could Low-Key Be Its Best Yet Destiny awaits via red or blue creme, infused with “kyber” sugar crystals inspired by the crystals found in a Lightsaber. Cookies will further evoke the theme, with characters embossed in the chocolate: Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and a stormtrooper will be depicted on dark side cookie packs, and Luke Skywalker, Yoda, and Princess Leia will be on the light side cookie packs. Fans can look closely before indulging in the treats — 20 characters total appear on the special edition sandwich cookies, with 10 characters repeating across both varieties of cookies. The new cookies, which will be branded with both Dark Side and Light Side characters, will be on retail shelves by June 10. Lucasfilm Ltd. / Mondelez International, Inc. “Pairing two tremendously loved communities to launch the Star Wars Oreo Cookie Packs has been an amazing experience,” said Nicole Fischer, senior brand manager for Oreo in the United States. “We are continuing to make strides to cement our brand’s cultural relevance via strategic collaborations. We hope fans see how much we loved bringing their favorite stories to life, and that they have fun discovering the details we’ve included at every touchpoint.” Before you tear open the packages, enjoy the original character artwork, replicated from a painting by illustrator Greg Hildebrandt, an iconic Star Wars poster artist since 1977. In April, Oreo announced a brand-new, limited-edition cookie in partnership with Sour Patch Kids. The golden, cream-colored cookies are playfully speckled with multicolored flecks of the tart candy in the creme filling, for a sweet and sour bite with some crunch. In March, Oreo’s space dunk cookies launched in honor of the Total Solar Eclipse, offering a cosmic creme filling with pink and blue swirls. Three new Oreo mint frozen treats also hit the freezer aisle in March, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day and Oreo debuted its churro cookie flavor just in time for spring. That all means plenty of cookies to snack on when Star Wars: The Acolyte starts streaming on Disney+ this June 4. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
