It's National Avocado Day. And while every generation can enjoy a bite of that tasty green fruit, Panera has something particularly special planned for this National Avocado Day for millennials. You see, millennials have long been maligned for their love of avocados — so much so that some people blame their love of avocado toast for the entire generation's economic downfall. This, however, has been thoroughly debunked by experts, including our friends at Investopedia, who explain that it's far more nuanced than that, with the main financial burden stemming from the fact that millennials earn an average of 20% less than baby boomers earned at the same age. So, rather than telling you to forgo a nice little treat, Panera is here to help you lean in with its "Millennial Meal" that it's dropping on National Avocado Day. Panera Is Getting 9 Completely New Menu Items — Here's a Peek Earlier this month, Panera launched a new line of avocado Toasts, including its Classic Avo, which comes topped with "Chunky avocado spread and everything bagel seasoning on thin-sliced Country Rustic Sourdough," and its Garden Avo, which comes with the same spread along with "sliced tomatoes, everything bagel seasoning and garlic aioli on thin-sliced Country Rustic Sourdough. To celebrate these new toasts and National Avocado Day, Panera is offering either option for free with any other purchase. All customers need to do is head to PaneraBread.com/MillennialMeal and order through the site using the code "AVOTOAST" to score their freebie. Panera is also encouraging millennial fans (and otherwise) to snag free sips for the holiday, including plenty of iced coffee to go with that avocado toast, by joining its Unlimited Sip Club, which it is currently offering for three months free if you join by August 31. "While it has become common practice to roast Millennials and all the things they love," Panera shared in a press release, "including skinny jeans, side parts, and yes, Avocado Toast, Panera is taking an official stance on all things that are so good [that] should never go out of style."
