Beyond Meat is changing everything you think you know about its products by releasing a new sausage that actually puts veggies at the forefront. On Tuesday, the brand introduced its Beyond Sun Sausage, which is made with "vegetables, fruits, and legumes, including spinach, bell peppers, yellow peas, brown rice, red lentils, and fava beans." It distinctly added that the "new product is not intended to replicate beef, pork or poultry but rather be its own delicious, satisfying protein option." And it comes in three flavors: Cajun, Pesto, and Pineapple Jalapeño. “We’re thrilled to introduce a completely new innovation to the plant-based category with the addition of our wholesome, flavor-forward Beyond Sun Sausage,” Dariush Ajami, chief innovation officer at Beyond Meat, shared in a press release. “Filled with clean, plant proteins … this launch further exemplifies our industry-leading commitment to raising the nutrition bar for plant-based meats and creating delicious, healthy products.” Taste Test: The Plant-Based Meat Products You Need to Try As the brand emphasizes, each link comes with 12 grams of protein and has a low saturated fat content, which helped the new product gain certification from the American Heart Association's Heart-Check program and the Better Choices for Life program of the American Diabetes Association. “The new Beyond Sun Sausage is a home cook's dream," Diana Stavaridis, the senior culinary manager at Beyond Meat shared, adding it pairs well with pastas, salads, or just on its own. "When you prepare Beyond Sun Sausage, you’re serving love to your taste buds, heart, and planet, and we’re excited for our fans to try this delicious new product as it’s unlike anything else currently available in the plant-based space." This isn't the only thing the brand has rolled out lately. "Plus, it has less sodium than the previous version and features a simplified ingredient list." Both of these products answer Ethan Brown's, the president and CEO of Beyond Meat, promise to deliver simpler ingredients that are less focused on imitating meat and more on just being tasty — and hopefully boost their bottom line in the process.
